Forever Day!
To say that today
is a dream come true is an understatement. We are so in
love with Mia. She has truly captured all of our hearts!
We met at the
Civil Affairs office today. When we walked in we saw many
families who had just received their children. They were
all beautiful....most crying and the parents were so
excited. Suzanne and I started crying within seconds!
Suzanne said later that she has seen families brought
together on video but you can never describe what a sacred
and amazing moment that is until you have been there in
person. So wonderful to have her there along with Brad's
parents.
We were watching
all of these darling babies for a few minutes. I went into
another area and saw this sweet baby with captivating eyes.
Suddenly I saw that she had a pink polka dot blanket on her
lap. That was the blanket Sharon had made for her Christmas
present. Instead of being calm liked I planned I yelled out
"she has the blanket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's
HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Suzanne rushed
to get Brad in the other room and everyone else came over to
see her. I realized I had just yelled and our little baby
girl was probably wondering who this crazy woman was!
We approached the
nanny and gave Mia a little space. The nanny pointed to the
blanket and then Mia. We were so excited. She held up her
club foot to ask if that was OK with us and I nodded a
definite yes.
We talked to the
nanny for a few minutes and then Brad was able to hold Mia
first. What a heart melter! She is incredibly sweet and
so far, reserved.
I am known for
bombarding our daughter's caregivers with questions (knowing
this may be the only time to get answers). She told me
about the foster family Mia lived with and how they
nicknamed her "Han Han". She said her personality is "quiet
and gentle". She slept in the bed with the foster mother
and wore the brace during the day. They did not let her
walk but she does crawl. Her foster mother's wish was for
us to "Love her and get her foot fixed'. They said her
favorite food was Pork Fat...not the Pork!
The whole day was
incredible. The nanny had Han Han give us all kisses and
she is just so sweet! Caroline was hugging me saying "I
have happy tears do you Mom?" As you will see by the photo,
Sarah spent the entire time eating all of Mia's snacks...her
dream!
Sharon and Larry
where a hug help videotaping and Suzanne was our great
photographer. You will see a photo of Larry giving Mia her
first bottle with us.
Brad and I have
had the most amazing day and pray that this continues. She
goes to both of us but definitely prefers her Daddy. He is
so sweet with her and started to get a few smiles...and
later laughs!
We are so blessed
and will email more later,

Sarah...and Mia (Han Han)
