Mia is
progressing more each week. She is one of the
hardest working two year olds I know! She does PT
in the pool and Speech Therapy twice a week. Brad
is the best with her in the Pool as she loves to
swim with him. While Mia still cries, the
PT said she prefers Dads in the pool as they usually
will push the kids harder to perform. For PT Mia
went completely under water for 12 eggs on Wed.....a
new record! Her physical therapist was trying to
grow a calf muscle where it appeared she solely had
bone and skin in her right leg. I doubted she had a
muscle to grow in there but told our PT that I would
do anything to help it grow. Sure enough, several
months later she now has a defined calf muscle!
Mia has had many tears with me in the pool for PT
and I dread going but is it truly a miracle what it
is achieving for her little legs and feet.
Her Speech is
definitely delayed (probably due to being in the
orphanage a longer time and/or it is common to have
Speech Delays with Motor delays) but we are
understanding her more each week. We hired an
additional Speech Therapist to give her an extra
jump start. Both have completely different
techniques and are extremely talented. A year
ago Mia would often scream/cry in the car....now she
never cries and just asks for what she needs. We
have learned that she has a really cute sense of
humor and tries to make us laugh all the time. She
just learned how to say "Sarah" and they play "Mommy
and Baby" daily. When Caroline comes home from
school, Mia lunges into her arms with a huge smile.
How can that not make anyone smile? Caroline and
Sarah are very helpful with Mia. Caroline loves to
say "Ohhhhhhhhhhh she is just sooooo cute"!
Toooooo Much!
I was trying
to teach Mia that when I ask her "How much do I love
you?" She should reply "So much"! Now when I say
"How much does Mommy love you?" she always replies
Tooooooooooooo Much!!! It is true! Recently Mia
was sick with a temperature for a few days. She
just wanted to be held and snuggle all day. When
our kids are sick I think that is when it hits me
the most.....we are just so lucky to have them in
our family. When Caroline was adopted I donated
some medicine at her orphanage. The director said
that they did not need the medicine as they did not
give the babies medicine when they were sick.
Caroline arrived with an Upper Resp. Infection and
Two ear infections. How long had she had this?
Life is hard enough when you are sick as a child. I
can not imagine to not having treatment or a parent
to lovingly take care of you. What a gift to be
able to give our kids medicine and hold them all day
when they are not feeling great. When I think about
all the orphans around the world, I
wish everyone had the chance to be loved Toooooo
Much!
We thank you for
all your support and prayers!
